Fliers

First off, let me say, I wish I liked this book.  I really do. Nathaniel Russell’s Fliers is a collection of “20 small posters with big thoughts.” Each poster can be easily removed from the book and tacked on the wall, and the book’s dust jacket unfolds into a larger poster…of a telephone pole.  That should give you some idea of of the offbeat humor in this book, which is what will either make you love it or hate it.  Although it’s not something I enjoy, I know a few other people who probably would be quite tickled with it.

Isaiah’s Daughter

I have found a new favorite author!  This was the first book I have read by Mesu Andrews, and now I can hardly wait to get my hands on others.  This book was engrossing but still accurate, insightful but still not preachy.  I love how the author wove Biblical passages and good thoughts into an interesting story.  Isaiah’s Daughter is definitely a book I’ll read again.

The Dumpling Galaxy Cookbook

Are you the kind of person who goes to an Asian restaurant and comes out saying, “Man, that was good, but I could never make that!”?  If so, this might be the cookbook for you.  Although it’s focused wholly on dumplings, it has great instructions, recipes, and even a template for designing your own dumplings.  My family loves the dumplings I have made from this book, and hopefully yours will too.
